ABOUT US DESCRIPTION The Old Printing Shop of London was established in 1975 by Michael Fenton, who served a 6-year apprenticeship as a compositor/printer handsetting wood and metal type. Working since then with his wife and two sons, he has been collecting printing equipment from all over Great Britain, including wooden and metal type, illustrative blocks, printing presses and many other items. The Old Printing Shop has amassed a significant collection of early printing presses over the years (as shown in the slideshow below) and many have been hired out and used in various films and television shows. Our products make perfect gifts for any special occasion such as anniversaries, birthdays, weddings, retirements and christmas. As well as being able to order through our website, we welcome you to visit us at our market stall locations in London: Portobello Road and Covent Garden, where we can help you make your selection from everything on our website and additional products not featured on the site - These include a wider variety of Type Cases, larger Wood Letters, an even larger choice of printing blocks and many small metal type options. JOB NOTICE We are also looking for someone to work our stalls in the market, and help sort through type etc. Some experience in printing is preferred, but not essential.
